Caveats and Definitions
"Unemployed" refers to those persons who, for an entire week, did not work at all, were unable to work and available for work, and (1) were looking for work or (2) would have looked for work except that (a) they were waiting to return to a job from which they had been laid off, or (b) they were waiting to report to a new wage and salary job scheduled to start within the following 30 days (and were not in school during the week).
