Caveats and Definitions
AIDS is an acronym for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. AIDS is caused by a virus (HIV or Human Immunodeficiency Virus) that attacks a person's immune system, making the body unable to fight off infection and disease. AIDS became reportable in Montana in 1985.
